Hyderabad Travel Guide
The 400 Year Old MystiqueA delightful blend of the old and the new, Hyderabad presents to the onlooker an interesting skyline, with modern buildings standing shoulder-to-shoulder with fascinating 400 year old edifices - the remains of the city's Islamic roots.
Known as the Istanbul of India, Hyderabad boasts of example of Qutb Shahi architecture- the Jama Masjid, Mecca Masjid, Toli Masjid and Hyderabad's symbol, the Charminar. A fine climate, a fascinating amalgam of cultures, magnificent cuisine, splendid shopping and a variety of things to see and do make a trip to this city memorable.
Places of interest
In the City include the spacious public gardens the tranquil landscape Gardens, The Birla Temple on Kala Pahad, Birla planetarium on Naubat Pahad and the vast expanses of the Hussain sagar lake with the stature of a giant Buddha gazing over it.
The Nehru Zoological park affords a view of a variety of animals, birds and reptiles in their natural surroundings. The solar Jung Museum displayed a great collection of beautiful objectives and standings on an eminence a little away from the city is the imposing Golconda Fort.
Exquisite Embellishmment
Hyderabad conjures up images of traditional finery- rich clothes and exquisite jewellery-the legacy of the Nawabs, who were connoisseurs of such adornment.
Interestingly, it is the traders in the quaint by lanes around the city most symbolic edifice, the Charminar that stock fine jewels, skills, brocades perfume and objects of art. Here one can shop for beautiful jewellery-antique kundan and enamel ornaments, temples sarees, old bidriware and pearls. The snug shops in Laad Bazaar spill over with glass bangles, sequins, braids and fine embroidery executed in gold thread.
